Sergio Perez has raced for Red Bull since 2021. Despite rumors emerging that he could be replaced on several occasions since the Mexican driver has continued to partner with Max Verstappen. Now, Dutch racing driver Jeroen Bleekemolen has reckoned that Checo has more lives than cats.

Bleekemolen pointed out that it is believed cats have nine lives. However, the Dutchman joked that Sergio Perez might as well have twenty-five lives. The Mexican driver keeps coming back even after facing several exit rumors.

Somehow it seems like a cat with, I would say, nine lives, but it seems like he has 25 lives. He keeps coming back.

Moreover, Jeroen Bleekemolen recalled Perez’s incredible victory at the 2020 Sakhir GP, when the 34-year-old won after finding himself in last place after the first lap. This highlighted that Checo remains a very good driver. It is believed that the race played a major role in Sergio Perez’s move to Red Bull for the following season.

We have to remember that he also drove from last place to first at the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix in Bahrain. If you think he can’t drive, it’s nonsense because he’s just a very good driver.

Jeroen Bleekemolen explained

Sergio Perez might be mentally ‘succumbing’ to Red Bull pressure

The Dutchman emphasized that during Checo’s run at Red Bull, he has had to try various things to try and match Max Verstappen. Bleekemolen insisted that a driver would go crazy if they find themselves half a second behind their teammate, as is the case with Perez. However, he noted that perhaps the Mexican driver has succumbed to this pressure since joining Milton Keynes.

You are going to do things you shouldn’t do, you are going to try things you don’t want to try. And if you come up four, five-tenths short, you go crazy as a driver. Maybe he has been mentally succumbing to that pressure for some time.

Jeroen Bleekemolen stated

Certainly, Sergio Perez’s F1 future remains uncertain. The 34-year-old has a contract till the end of 2025. However, it would not be a surprise if Red Bull decides to make a shock driver move before the start of next season.
