Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton are facing moments of extreme lows in the 2025 season. Both drivers have failed to achieve a race win so far, and the team cannot stop suffering from double DNFs.

Notably, at the Brazil GP, Maranello suffered from their third double DNF this year, and also lost the P3 spot to Red Bull in the process. Now, Ferrari Chairman John Elkann issues stern advice for both Leclerc and Hamilton amid their woeful form.

Lewis Hamilton has been the most disappointing driver in terms of performance in the 2025 season. The Briton is facing so many issues that he claimed that his debut year with the team was nothing short of a nightmare for him.

On the other hand, Charles Leclerc cannot catch a break as he suffered from a DNF at the Brazil GP without even being at fault and being caught in an accident triggered by other drivers. Still, John Elkann blames both drivers for their poor spell in recent races.

John Elkann spoke candidly about Ferrari’s performance so far, especially at the Brazil GP. He firmly commented that the Brazil outing was indeed a huge disappointment for the team. Further, Elkann continued that the team certainly had drivers who focused more on talking and less on performances, firing direct shots at Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton.

In addition to this, John Elkann reckoned that the 2025 season wasn’t over yet and a P2 finish in the constructors’ championship was still possible for the team. However, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton needed to give it their all in these ‘important’ races and achieve great points for the team as a whole.

Elkann asserted that the Italian squad was definitely very capable, as they recently won the WEC title in Bahrain this year, which proved that the team’s combined efforts definitely paid off dividends.

Brazil was a huge disappointment, we certainly have drivers who it’s important that they focus on driving and talk less, because we still have important races ahead of us and it’s not impossible to get second place. In Bahrain, we won the WEC title. When Ferrari is united, you get results.

John Elkann claims Ferrari’s challenger ‘undoubtedly’ improving

Charles Leclerc has still managed to amass seven podium finishes in the 21 races this year. On the contrary, Lewis Hamilton’s best result is only a sprint race victory and no podium finishes under his belt at Ferrari.

However, the team is still acing all the pit stops and multiple strategic calls, which means that the crew cannot be blamed fully for the team’s current downfall. Hence, John Elkann reveals the root cause of the Italian constructor’s failure in recent months.

John Elkann pointed out that from a constructors’ championship perspective, the engineers and crew members would win the title because of their successful efforts during the pit stops.

Looking at the engineers and their work in recent years, the Italian raised no doubt over the fact that the car was improving in pace. However, the rest of the elements at the Scuderia were not up to par and were causing the team’s extreme downfall in pace and results this year.

If we look at the Formula 1 championship, we can say that our mechanics are winning the championship with their performance and everything they’ve done on the pit stops. If we look at our engineers, there’s no doubt that the car has improved. If we look at the rest, it’s not up to par.

John Elkann noted.

The 2025 season only has three races left until completion. The team and the drivers certainly will hope to put the entire year behind them and start looking upto the upcoming season. Still, Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton will have to give it their all in these final races to make sure that the team’s management remains satisfied with their efforts.
