Lando Norris has delivered impressive performances in recent races thanks to the fast McLaren car this season. The 24-year-old consistently scored points over the weekend, which helped him closing in on Max Verstappen. However, during the past few races, the Briton failed to achieve another victory due to multiple mistakes. Ex-F1 driver Johnny Herbert tells Norris to not share his feelings of losing or winning the race, which can be taken advantage of.
Johnny Herbert stated that Lando Norris is a very honest individual which is a good thing and should be admired. However, The 60-year-old believed that the Briton would be better off keeping his personal feelings and opinions private instead of sharing them publicly with everyone. It might be more beneficial for him to share his feelings only to his closest ones and not everyone. By doing so unnecessary problems or misunderstandings can be avoided.
Lando is very honest and that is to be praised. But I think he should keep his feelings to himself, not share them with the whole world.Johnny Herbert said, as reported by formula1.nl
Herbert stated that if Norris shares his personal feelings with everyone, other drivers might use it for their own advantage. He noted if the 26-year-old showed signs of stress or uncertainty, others could used that information to gain the edge. The 60-year-old recognized that the young Briton was under a lot of pressure. He pointed out that, as a Grand Prix winner, he should have been experienced enough to handle the pressure and manage the situation effectively.
Because it is something that other drivers will try to take advantage of. Lando is under pressure, but as a winner of a GP, he should be able to handle it.Johnny Herbert added.
Johnny Herbert pinpoints Lando Norris’ recent struggles
Johnny Herbert mentioned that Lando Norris probably thought that the choice made at Hungary wasn’t the best one. During the Belgian GP at Spa, he ended up in the gravel after a poor start, and had trouble getting off the line well. In the last two races, Hungary and Belgium, the 26-year-old faced difficulties and was not able to perform that well. However ,Oscar Piastri had a successful run, winning his first ever race on Hungaroring. The Australian even finished on the podium at Spa-Francorchamps.
In Hungary, Lando probably felt that the decision was not the right one, in Spa he ended up in the gravel after a bad start. The last two races have been against him, while his teammate has won once and got on the podium.Johnny Herbert stated.
Certainly, Herbert highlighted that Norris’ decision and unfortunate incident in some races cost him his second win of the season. However, his teammate did an excellent job by acquiring first position in Hungary and second in the recent Belgium GP. Fans are excited to watch the pair once again after the summer break comes to an end. They are expected to show the same level of dominance for the last 10 rounds remaining.
