Lewis Hamilton and Scuderia Ferrari had high ambitions for the 2025 F1 season. The seven-time world champion hoped to bring glory back to Maranello during his dream stint at the team. Unfortunately, this has not been the case. Rather, the Briton’s struggles have only increased over the course of the campaign. Now, former FIA Steward Johnny Herbert has made it clear that Ferrari cannot rely on Hamilton.
The F1 star is having a hard time at Maranello since the start of the season. Lewis Hamilton struggled to adjust to the various switch settings of his Ferrari car, making it much harder for him in the first few races. The Briton has not been in contention for race wins or even podiums. Albeit, he did take a Sprint victory in China.
Rumors of tensions between Hamilton and Ferrari continue to emerge. The 40-year-old was even met with radio silence at the Monaco GP. Though, Ferrari did clarify the situation. On the other hand, Charles Leclerc has been far more consistent for the Scuderia.
Johnny Herbert insisted that Lewis Hamilton was no longer able to get the extra pace out of the car. The British driver is clueless over his lack of results while his teammate manages to pull off some decent performances in the same machinery.
Hamilton doesn’t seem to be able to get that extra something he needs anymore. He doesn’t understand why he can’t, he feels he should be able to do it, since Leclerc is getting better results with the same car and climbs the podium more regularly.

Moreover, Herbert asserted that Ferrari recognizes that Charles Leclerc is its best prospect for the future. Since joining the team in 2019, the Monegasque has solidified his place at Maranello. While Lewis Hamilton, who was seen as the next Ferrari champion, can no longer be counted upon by the Prancing Horse.
Leclerc will continue to grow and has control of Ferrari’s future. He is the man they can count on, Ferrari cannot count on Lewis Hamilton at this point. It’s terrible to say, but it’s the truth.

Lewis Hamilton ‘really lost’ at Ferrari during debut campaign
The seven-time world champion decided to move to Ferrari after a couple of dismal seasons with Mercedes. The Italian team was supposed to be a new chapter for Hamilton, when he rediscovered his mojo and got back to the front of the grid. However, the 40-year-old seems to have found a new set of problems.

Johnny Herbert declared that Hamilton really felt lost with his new team. So much so, that the Briton actually doubts his own pace. The former FIA Steward had hoped that Hamilton would bounce back and get everything in order soon, but unfortunately he seems to be stuck at a dead end.
At this moment Hamilton seems really lost, to the point that one wonders if he still has his proverbial pace. I thought he would be able to overcome any problem, instead with the car it seems to be in a dead end.
Johnny Herbert stated
Certainly, Lewis Hamilton is in a dire need to perform. The seven-time world champion needs to prove to Ferrari that he has not lost his edge against Charles Leclerc. Moreover, the Briton needs some good results to get back his own confidence after continuous struggles. The Tifosi would be hoping that Hamilton has a better time in the coming races. But unless Ferrari makes some changes to the car, it is likely that the F1 star will remain stuck in this position.
