The Red Bull F1 team has been having a tumultuous time during the ongoing F1 season. The outfit has been hit with one issue or another and with Sergio Perez struggling behind the wheel of the RB20, the Ex-F1 driver Jonny Herbert has backed RB’s Yuki Tsunoda to get the 2025 Red Bull seat.
Daniel Ricciardo is also in the running for next year’s birth but Jonny Herbert thinks the former has lost his spark and is thus, not cut out to race for Red Bull again. The 35-year-old left the Austrian outfit at the end of 2018 to try his luck with other teams.
Has Daniel earned a place at Red Bull? I don’t think so, at least not yet. He has not been strong enough against Yuki Tsunoda. Yuki is the one I would give a go to - his racing has improved.Jonny Herbert via TopOffShoreSportsBooks
Yuki Tsunoda has hands down been the better driver at RB this year. The young Japanese has so far amassed 22 points in comparison to Ricciardo’s 12. For this reason, the former has been applauded by many in the F1 paddock.
Daniel Ricciardo entering summer break with a ‘spring in his step’
While Hubert does not see Ricciardo as a strong enough candidate for the 2025 Red Bull seat, the latter is content with his recent performances. The Australian has admitted that after a few initial setbacks, his performances have been in line with his capabilities.
Ricciardo finished the Belgian Grand Prix in P10.
I feel like the races have been much more in line with what I’m capable of, and I feel like I’m leaving the weekend feeling much more content, fulfilled. It’s important I was able to do that, and [it] leaves me entering the break with much more of a spring in my step. Looking ahead, yeah, [I’m] excited. Excited to get back and get out there in Zandvoort.Daniel Ricciardo via F1
At the age of 35-years-old, Ricciardo is fully determined to have a shot in F1 with Red Bull. However, keeping in view that Perez is staying with the team until the end of at least 2024, it will be interesting to see how the former’s 2025 situation will develop in the upcoming months. There are quite a few drivers in line for next year’s seat on the Milton-Keynes-based team.
