Max Verstappen is known for his reluctance to attend official events arranged by Formula 1. The Dutchman has put forth his opinions on such events numerous times. However, the reigning world champion had to attend the F1 75 event where he wasn’t welcomed with much respect. British fans booed Verstappen at the London O2 arena for unforeseen reasons.

Max Verstappen‘s comments about British bias in Formula 1 might have triggered such a reaction from the English masses. Even Christian Horner was booed during Red Bull’s livery reveal due to the multiple controversies in the 2024 season. Verstappen remained unfazed by the disrespectful behavior and did not speak much of it. However, his father, Jos Verstappen has taken offense to the matter and put forth his opinion.

Jos Verstappen labels Max Verstappen’s cold welcome ‘unacceptable’

Max Verstappen’s straightforward attitude in addition to his dominance on the grid might be the reason for the English fans to hold a grudge against him. Jos Verstappen furthered his complaints and believed that such a reaction was ‘unacceptable’ from the fans.

Verstappen Sr. claims that the 27-year-old ‘fires up’ English fans by saying blunt truths. The 52-year-old reiterated his disappointment, stating that such behavior from fans was not acceptable.

I don’t think that’s acceptable. I get it, because Max is the only one who fires up those Englishmen and says exactly how things are. But I don’t think this is acceptable; it’s really a disappointment what happened there.

Jos Verstappen noted

Formula 1 could have more things planned to honor its 75th anniversary this year. On the other hand, Max Verstappen has not commented on the incident yet. Given the hostility, the 27-year-old is unlikely to attend such events in the future if he feels disrespected by fans.
