Max Verstappen is a well-rounded driver who also has interests in multiple racing categories apart from Formula 1. The Dutchman recently debuted in the GT3 category and achieved a stellar race win in his very first attempt. However, despite Verstappen’s racing prowess, his father, Jos Verstappen, does not trust his son to race in a rally car, with the father taking the co-driver’s seat.

Jos Verstappen is also a racing fanatic, as he hasn’t hung up his racing suit yet and continues to race in the European Rally Championship (ERC), despite being 53 years of age. In Rally Racing, it is common for a co-driver to be seated alongside the driver and provide him with instructions and directions while racing. Even though Verstappen Sr. is a racing veteran, he wouldn’t trust Max Verstappen to drive the car while he takes the passenger seat.

Jos Verstappen talked about his racing ventures in the Rally category and how it was difficult despite his experience. The Dutchman asserted that he woke up every day and prayed a Hail Mary for his safety in the Rally car. Verstappen Sr. acknowledged that certain risks came for a driver in the ERC.

However, he believed that the navigators sitting in the co-driver seat definitely needed to be more daring. As such, Jos Verstappen pointed out that he would never want to sit next to someone driving the Rally car and giving them directions. Verstappen Sr. wouldn’t even trust himself to sit next to his four-time F1 champion son, Max Verstappen.

Every day I get up I pray a Hail Mary, As a driver, you know the risks, but sincerely; I think as a navigator you have to be even more daring. I personally would never want to sit next to someone else, not even next to Max.

Max Verstappen reveals his ambitions after Nürburgring debut

Max Verstappen recently debuted in GT3 racing at the Nürburgring and achieved a stellar race win on his debut outing. Although Verstappen’s current interest lies in Formula 1, he isn’t completely against racing in multiple categories. The Dutchman had previously revealed that he would want to try his hand at other forms of racing following his F1 retirement. Now, he labels his goals following the Nürburgring debut.

Max Verstappen revealed that his future plans depended on a lot of things. Primarily, the changing regulations in Formula 1 would be hectic and give him less time off to go on and try out other racing ventures.

Verstappen continued that a lot of things needed to fall in the right place for him to go out and participate in the Nürburgring race again. Regardless, if everything went according to plan, he would definitely go back racing at the Green Hell.

It depends on a lot of things. First, we have to see how things are in Formula 1 with the complex rule changes coming up. So things could get more hectic. And things have to really come together before I can plan to enter the race. We really want to return to the Nordschleife with Verstappen.com Racing, but at the moment I don’t how many or which races I’ll contest. But if it all works out, I will be there.
