Red Bull driver Max Verstappen was distraught with his team as he finished P6 at the Italian Grand Prix. Following Verstappen’s lackluster outing, his father, Jos Verstappen, has highlighted and shared his views on the team’s performance.
Max Verstappen has now failed to win in any of the last six races this season. The Dutchman was impressive during the initial parts of the campaign, amassing seven wins in the first ten races. Verstappen has since greatly struggled to find pace and balance in the RB20.
Jos Verstappen has talked about the incompetency of the Milton-Keynes-based team in the championship. He talked of the disappointment that followed the team’s dismal performance at Monza on Sunday.
It was also a huge disappointment that it happened, so to speak. He [Max] is certainly combative, but after the race he was quite done about it, especially because we [Red Bull] just can't get it together.Jos Verstappen spoke on the Coen & Sander Show on Dutch radio channel
Despite his recent dip in performance, Verstappen leads the drivers’ championship by a handsome margin of 62 points. However, the three-time world champion will now desperately have to win races in order to claim his fourth consecutive title.
Christian Horner’ take on the positives of having Max Verstappen at Red Bull
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has praised Max Verstappen’s vocality with issues in the RB20 post-race at Monza. Verstappen complained of several problems and situations on the team radio during the Italian GP.
What's really impressed me with Max is how he's really engaged in this process. He's not, he's not panicking. He's working with the engineers. He's explaining very clearly where the issues are. He's putting the time and effort in. He was in early this morning. He was on zoom calls last week and he'll be on the simulator before the next race. He's really working hard at this.Christian Horner via GPblog
Christian Horner claimed that the 26-year-old driver has been wholly engaged in the team’s functioning and processes. Horner further exclaimed of Verstappen’s dedication in making his best efforts to bounce back at Baku.
The RB20 has finished 35 seconds or more behind the likes of their rivals McLaren in the past two races. The Papayas now trail the Milton-Keynes outfit only by eight points, who are facing major jeopardy in the title race this year.
