Max Verstappen emerged victorious in the 2024 Drivers’ championship despite facing performance struggles with Red Bull. The Dutchman scored his fourth consecutive triumph, becoming one of the most accomplished racers in the sports history. Recently his father Jos Verstappen revealed his son’s ‘best’ world title amongst the four.
Max Verstappen‘s first championship win in the 2021 season was won under extremely controversial circumstances. Then race director Michael Massi’s wrong interpretation of rules overshadowed the victory. Jos Verstappen believed that first victories were always special and labeled Verstappen’s 2021 championship win as the best one. Moreover, the 52-year-old highlighted that winning the championship on the last lap made the win even more special.
Verstappen Sr. didn’t fail to acknowledge the 27-year-old’s three other championship wins, either. The Dutchman asserted that Verstappen Jr. was extremely good in the 2023 season as well, shattering multiple records. However, the 52-year-old noted that the championship win this season was even more special due to the car being extremely difficult to drive.
Jos Verstappen labeled Max Verstappen’s 2021 championship win as ‘beautiful and emotional’
Max Verstappen won the championship fair and square and had no role in the antics used by the FIA in the 2021 season. Jos Verstappen didn’t hesitate to claim that Mercedes boss Toto Wolff and championship runner-up Lewis Hamilton wouldn’t be too pleased with these comments. However, the 52-year-old recalled that the evening was extremely ‘beautiful’ and ’emotional’ for the father-son duo.
Red Bull reportedly ignored Verstappen’s feedback about the chassis’ issues which caused the imminent downfall in performance. As a result, the team must treat the reigning world champion better and make sure that the challenger is up to the mark. Milton Keynes will also undergo a massive personnel change in the coming season and must work with less hands on deck.
