Max Verstappen successfully defended the F1 world title last year. The Dutchman had a tough campaign against Lando Norris and often got frustrated. Now, former F1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya has highlighted that Verstappen will need to better handle his anger.
Montoya insisted that the four-time world champion will continue to bring solid results for Red Bull if Milton Keynes can provide him a capable car. In 2024, Max Verstappen managed to turn the tide despite going through a four-month winless streak.
If Red Bull can deliver Verstappen a good car, he can keep bringing good results for the team throughout the season.

Moreover, Juan Pablo Montoya emphasized that Verstappen is now used to having an advantage against his rivals. As such, Montoya pointed out that the Dutch driver will need to learn to control his anger when he does not have the quickest car on the grid.
Verstappen is so used to having the upper hand, so he will need to learn how to control his anger and finish races in a worse car.

Liam Lawson could ‘push’ Max Verstappen
Max Verstappen will be partnered by Liam Lawson at Red Bull this year. Montoya insisted that the Kiwi driver will start as the number 2 to the four-time world champion. However, the 49-year-old reckoned that Lawson will be ready to push the F1 star once he finds his pace at Milton Keynes. This could present a challenge to the Dutch driver.

Verstappen is the dominant driver at Red Bull, and Liam Lawson will try to find his feet. I think Lawson will play nice as the number two driver, but when he finds some pace, he will push Verstappen.
Juan Pablo Montoya stated
Verstappen aims to win his fifth title in a row this year. The reigning world champion will leave no stone unturned to bag the world championship. Thus, Liam Lawson would have to give his best to ensure that he does not get sidelined during his first full-season in Formula 1.
