Sergio Perez‘s F1 career looms in uncertainty. The Mexican driver’s current Red Bull contract extends till the end of 2025. However, rumors have emerged that Checo could be replaced for next season. Now, former F1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya has insisted that Milton Keynes does want to axe the 34-year-old soon.

Pablo Montoya asserted that it is likely that Perez will remain alongside Max Verstappen for the start of the 2025 F1 season. However, the former McLaren driver claimed that Red Bull ‘100%’ wanted to replace the Mexican driver.

Checo insists that he is going to stay next year. I personally also believe he will still be on the grid in 2025. Obviously, they [Red Bull] don’t want him there. They want him out, 100 per cent.

Moreover, Juan Pablo Montoya highlighted that Sergio Perez wants to end his F1 career on his own terms. The 34-year-old does not want to face a similar fate to Daniel Ricciardo. The Columbian pointed out that Perez does have massive financial backing to help his position within the team, something that Ricciardo lacked at RB.

Checo already said he wanted to retire on his own terms. He doesn’t want the same thing to happen to him as Ricciardo. And the big difference between Ricciardo and Checo is that Checo brings money to the team and Ricciardo does not.

Now Checo has the fame he has and he is attacked very easily. He doesn’t have an easy situation. He’s in a horrible position because I feel like everybody wants him out.

Certainly, Sergio Perez so far is set to race in 2025 at Red Bull. However, Milton Keynes has a history of making last-minute driver changes which could happen yet again. Although, millions of F1 fans in Mexico will hope that Checo gets to see out his entire contract before retiring from the sport in the near future.
