Daniel Ricciardo was the center of attention at the Singapore GP following the incessant rumors of his departure. VCARB did not release any official statements on ousting Ricciardo and this created a big buzz around the move. The Aussie had to act unaware of the situation and did not receive a proper farewell from the people in the paddock.
Karun Chandhok believed that Daniel Ricciardo was forced to put on a happy face and not act disappointed. The Singapore GP also witnessed an emotional ending for the Aussie after he stole the fastest lap from Lando Norris to help his old pal Max Verstappen. Chandhok mentioned that he felt for the 35-year-old as the latter was aware of the situation of his being kicked out.
Ricciardo reportedly had the option to reveal the news before the weekend and decided not to. Regardless, Chandhok believed that Red Bull forced Ricciardo to put on a ‘charade’ at the Singapore weekend to garner some more sympathy and attention. The Indian felt ‘awkward’ for the Honey Badger after witnessing the entire fiasco surrounding the latter.
Liam Lawson lamented an ‘unenjoyable’ Singapore weekend after Daniel Ricciardo’s fiasco
Liam Lawson was given Ricciardo’s seat after he departed from the team. Lawson was probably aware of the situation and couldn’t say or do anything back then. Hence, even the Kiwi driver felt that the entire weekend was ‘unenjoyable’ due to such disappointing circumstances.
Regardless of the disappointing end to Ricciardo’s Formula 1 stint, he still might have a chance to make a comeback. Primarily, Ricciardo has been considered for an ambassador role in Formula 1 at the upcoming US GP. Additionally, Christian Horner didn’t close the door on the Aussie’s return with Red Bull in the coming season.
