Max Verstappen made headlines following his stellar NLS2 entry. The Dutchman achieved not only the pole position in his first session this year, but also the race victory with his team. However, he suffered from a disqualification as his team switched seven sets of tires, when only six were allowed. Now, Kimi Antonelli talks about wanting to team up with the four-time champion in the series in the near future.

Since the beginning of the NLS2 weekend, Max Verstappen has looked strong in his performances. The F1 star drove the first and final stints of the four-hour-long race to help his team win with a lead of over 59 seconds over the rivals. However, a disqualification put a disappointing end to the session. Still, Kimi Antonelli, who watched the entire season from his home, has talked about wanting to race alongside the four-time champion in various formats soon.

Kimi Antonelli has already tried his hand at an Italian GT round with his family-run team, AKM Motorsport. As such, the Chinese GP winner noted that he would love to run the endurance racing sessions with Max Verstappen one day. Antonelli noted that it would be awesome to race with Verstappen as they both share a passion for GT Racing. The Italian added that his love for the sport was instilled in him by his father, who runs the AKM Motorsport team in GT racing.

I would love to do an endurance race with Max together, I think that would be pretty awesome. It’s cool because we both have passion for GTs. Obviously, on my side, it came from my dad with the GT team.

Kimi Antonelli revealed that he often tested the GT3 cars to keep up with the advancements in the sport. Meanwhile, Max Verstappen was also enjoying the GT sessions, as he gears up for the upcoming 24 Hours of Nurburgring debut. Antonelli asserted it was really cool of Verstappen to participate in the 24-hour format, and he reassured that he would surely be watching the race to show his support for the four-time champion.

Occasionally, I go and test when I can, and obviously, Max as well has been really enjoying it. It’s really cool for him to do the 24 hours of Nurburgring. I think it’s going to be a really cool event, and definitely I’ll be watching it. It’s something that in the future I would really like to do, to race with him in an endurance race.

Kimi Antonelli reveals upcoming test at the Nordschleife circuit

Kimi Antonelli’s path to GT3 racing might come earlier than people anticipate. The one-time F1 race winner reveals that he has already asked for a test session around the Nordschleife circuit. As such, Antonelli could join Verstappen Racing to potentially participate in races alongside Max Verstappen in the near future.

Now, Kimi Antonelli revealed that he loves the Nordschleife track, as he looks forward to the upcoming test. Moreover, the 19-year-old wants to try racing around the Green Hell in real racing sessions and not just testing. Antonelli believes that pairing up with Max Verstappen would be a really cool experience. The Italian has reassured that he is considering racing in GT3 apart from his performances in Formula 1.

I think it would be a really cool pair and it will be a really cool experience, but it’s something that I’ve been considering as well. I’ve already asked for a test at the Nordschleife, for example, because it’s a track that I love, and I would love to be able to try it in the real world as well.

Certainly, it will be interesting to witness the drivers of the pinnacle of motorsport participate in various other forms of motorsports. The F1 drivers have excellent experience racing extremely fast cars. As such, their experience would definitely help them acheive success in other motorsports.
