Formula One’s Kimi Antonelli dedicated his Miami Grand Prix victory to compatriot Jannik Sinner. It was the third time both won titles on the same day in their respective sports.
Antonelli beat Lando Norris in the Miami GP, completing a hat-trick, while Sinner beat Alexander Zverev in the Madrid Open final. The 19-year-old, during his interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, opened up about the comparisons between him and the four-time Grand Slam champion, as many believe he has begun to create Sinner-like hype in Italy.
I’m happy that people compare us, but Jannik has achieved so much so far in his career, and I’m obviously further behind, so it’s not a fair comparison at the moment. However, I look at Jannik as an example for what he’s doing.
Back in March, Sinner won the Italian Wells Masters, while Antonelli won the Chinese GP on the same day. And again on the same day, Sinner clinched the Miami Open to complete the Sunshine Double, while Antonelli won the Japanese GP.
I’m thinking of going to see him at Wimbledon; the timing is good for me because I’m already in England, and it’s a tournament I’d really like to see. I’m happy that the Italian public has become so passionate about tennis thanks to him, and I’d like to do the same with my sport, not only cheering on young people, but also being an example for them; that’s something very important.

Antonelli will next be competing at the Canadian GP on May 24th. Many tennis players will feature in the main draw of the French Open on Sunday. The 24-year-old will be aiming to reach the Career Grand Slam milestone. He reached the final in Paris last year for the first time but failed to win the title, losing in five sets to arch-rival Carlos Alcaraz.
Alexander Zverev says he, Carlos Alcaraz, and Jannik Sinner will stay inside the top five in 2030
At present, Jannik Sinner sits at the top of the rankings table with 14,700 points, while second-ranked Carlos Alcaraz has 11,960 points. Alexander Zverev, even though he has yet to win a title since the 2025 Munich Open, has managed to stay in the third spot thanks to his deep run in almost every tournament he has played this year.

But there’s a huge difference in ranking points between him and Alcaraz, with the former at 5,705 points. Also, Sascha has lost nine consecutive matches to Sinner and trails 4-10 in their head-to-head matchups.
Against Alcaraz, Zverev trails 6-7 but has lost their previous two matches. The three-time Grand Slam finalist thinks he has the ability to remain in the top five in the next four years alongside Alcaraz, Sinner, Lorenzo Musetti, and Joao Fonseca.
Carlos, Jannik, me, not by any order, but I think us three will be top five still. I’ll go Musetti, and I’ll go Fonseca. Why not?
Alexander Zverev said (H/T: Tennis365)
Fonseca currently sits in the 30th spot and reached his career-best No.24 last year. Musetti, a former World No.5, is now occupying the 11th position.
At the moment, all of these players, excluding Alcaraz and Musetti, are gearing up for the French Open. Musetti won’t be competing due to a thigh injury. Alcaraz won’t be competing because of a wrist injury, and he also withdrew from Wimbledon. He defeated Zverev in the final in 2024.
Sinner, who is on a 29-match winning streak, will play Clement Tabur in the first round, while Zverev will be up against Benjamin Bonzi. Fonseca could meet Novak Djokovic in the third round.
