McLaren’s intra-team battle remained one of the biggest talking points throughout the 2025 season. Oscar Piastri was believed to have the championship win under his belt. However, a couple of controversial team calls later, Piastri lost the title lead and ultimately the victory to Lando Norris. Now, the reigning F1 champion confesses that the Aussie will not make life any easier for him on track in 2026.

Lando Norris is not doubting his teammate Oscar Piastri‘s capabilities at all. Piastri’s disappointing title loss by just 13 points in the 2025 season will make him hungrier to give it his all for the championship win in the coming season. However, the Aussie’s winning chances might be off to a rocky start because of the problematic regulations of the 2026 season.

Regardless, Lando Norris is wary of the incoming challenge from Oscar Piastri for the title victory. Norris highlighted that his approach to the championship against Piastri will remain the same despite his victory in 2025. Further, he reckoned that the Aussie will remain the same throughout the year and not talk too much about his performances and get on with it.

No, it’s the same. The way Oscar does – by not talking too much and getting on with it.

Lando Norris said, as reported by RacingNews365.

Lando Norris asserted that he did not need to point out Oscar Piastri’s calibre to provide a tough battle to the former on track in 2026. Norris continued that the 24-year-old will perform exactly as well as he did last year, if not better. The Briton made a shocking confession that Piastri was planning to make his teammate’s life hell throughout the new regulations.

I don’t need to say anything, everyone knows what he can do. He’ll show exactly what he did last year that he can be an incredible driver and be a world champion. I expect him to make my life hell.

Lando Norris reveals his motivation “not solely success”

Throughout the 2025 season, Lando Norris remained one of the more polarizing personalities on the grid. Lando Norris accepted that he loved to win and stand on the top step after giving it his all in a race. However, he noted that his main motivation was not solely success. Rather, it was the team and the people around him that mattered the most to him. He wanted to perform well to prove that the hard work of the crew was helping him achieve success. To Norris, this mattered the most, even more than success.

I love to win, I want to win. I want to stand on the top step, But my motivation is not solely success. Every time I go out and race, I want to win, but my motivation to win is not success and solely relying upon holding the trophy or winning. At the end of the day, it’s my team and the people that I have around me. They’re the people that I want to do well for.

Lando Norris noted.

The 2026 season will bring some interesting dynamics, especially within McLaren. The teams are still figuring out development and the best setup for the new regulations. Hence, both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will manage expectations for the beginning of the season and hope to achieve a good turnaround in performance by the latter races.
