Lando Norris had a rollercoaster of a weekend at the British GP. The local hero put forth some impressive performances during the practice sessions and seemed to be the favorite to win the pole position. However, come Saturday Qualifying, Norris committed some errors on track and succumbed to a P3 start. Regardless, a flawless run in the main event enabled the 25-year-old to bring home his maiden victory in front of the home crowd. As such, the race winner was overjoyed with his results and shared a heartwarming message.

Oscar Piastri had a great shot at race win if it weren’t for his excessive braking under the safety car, granting him a ten-second time penalty. Lando Norris remained in close vicinity of the race win and finally won the race after making no mistakes on the track. Moreover, Max Verstappen, despite starting from pole suffered from extremely dismal balance in the Red Bull challenger.

Lando Norris labeled his race win at the British GP as extremely beautiful. The Briton drove the final lap of the race as cheers echoed throughout the Landostand. The 25-year-old reckoned that his victory on home soil was the second-best thing in terms of feelings after winning the drivers’ title. Norris pointed out that the race was incredibly stressful, but the support from the fans eased the nerves during the event.

It’s beautiful. Apart from a Championship, this is as good as it gets in terms of feelings. Incredible race, stressful as always but the support from the fans made the difference so I have to thank them.

Lando Norris said in a post-race interview

Norris asserted that the rain-laden British GP was as stressful as a race could ever get, as he was delighted to emerge victorious in the end. The 25-year-old applauded Oscar Piastri’s performance on Sunday as he held onto a runner-up finish despite being hit with a massive penalty. The Briton also credited the hard work of the entire crew that helped him achieve this great feat in front of the home crowd.

As far as being a stressful race, it’s as stressful as it gets. A round of applause for Oscar as he put in a good race, he was fast. Credit to him and of course McLaren, to win at home is pretty amazing.

Lando Norris reveals ‘rule number one’ for British GP

Lando Norris, starting the race from P3, already seemed to be at a deficit of winning the race in the end. The Briton couldn’t have won the race if it weren’t for Max Verstappen’s spin out following the safety car restart and Oscar Piastri’s time penalty. However, Norris’ errorless performance helped him win the race alongside a little luck on his side. Now, the 25-year-old pondered upon the ‘No. 1 rule’ that he followed all throughout the race, which helped him win in the end.

Norris delightfully revealed that his one and only rule for the British GP was to ‘not f**k it up’. The 25-year-old treaded very carefully over the track and did not commit to any critical mistakes, effectively ruining his chance. The Briton accepted that such an amazing moment might never come again as he aims to take it in fully. The race winner asserted that he will keep these memories in his heart forever and never forget them, even if he is at rock bottom.

The main thing is don’t f**k it up, that is rule number one. It might never happen again, hope it does, but these are memories I’ll have forever.

The 2025 season has peaked in competition and excitement, especially within the McLaren squad. Lando Norris’ win in Silverstone means that he closes up the gap to his teammate further. The 25-year-old is now just eight points adrift of the championship lead. The drivers title is supposed to cook even more as the two McLarens will not put forth an extremely interesting battle in the latter half of the season.
