McLaren driver Lando Norris has reflected on his shortfalls during the first half of the 2024 F1 season. Norris currently stands in second position in the drivers championship with 199 points to his name.

Lando Norris has found greater pace and prowess in this campaign as compared to his previous ones for the Papayas. The 24-year-old has, however, made some faulty calls at crucial moments, due to which he has suffered severe consequences.

Norris has pinpointed his mistakes this season, claiming them to be little bit costly in the bigger picture. The Brit has also stated his failure to start races strongly as a major aspect of his shortcomings on the race track.

I've probably made a few too many mistakes. I've made a few too many mistakes over the last month or so, I've lost opportunities. It’s my starts, just some decision-making here and there. It’s small things that have had big consequences. A lot of stuff now in F1, a small difference will have a big consequence because it's so close.

Norris has only amassed a single win in 2024 despite battling at the front throughout the season. The 24-year-old will now hope to improve his performances after the summer break in order to challenge wholly for the world title this campaign.

Oscar Piastri deems winning constructor’s championship main objective for McLaren

McLaren driver Oscar Piastri has set his and the team’s priorities straight for the remainder of the season. Piastri has claimed that the Woking-based team will first look to secure the constructor’s title before anything else this year.

The first objective is to win the constructors' for the team and I think we've got a very strong chance of doing that. We've been closing the gap to Red Bull in the last six or seven races.

Oscar Piastri has praised McLaren for the efforts in closing the gap to title leaders Red Bull. Piastri has also highlighted that the Papayas stand a strong chance of winning the revered title for the first time in over 26 years.

McLaren trails the Milton-Keynes-based Red Bull by 42 points after 14 races this season. The remaining 10 fixtures will be a fitting test for them as they look to exploit maximum performance out of the MCL38 on the various F1 race track.
