Lando Norris has finally returned to the grid, donning the No.1 on his challenger with pride. The Briton edged out Max Verstappen and won the 2025 title by a mere two-point lead. As such, Norris is overjoyed to finally represent the number one on his car. The reigning world champion, funnily, claims that he is still processing his cutthroat title win in the previous season.

McLaren has brought a blacked-out MCL40 challenger for private testing in Barcelona. Though the laptimes and performance over the initial test session do not provide the full picture for the drivers, they still get a good idea about what to expect. Meanwhile, Lando Norris is starstruck by seeing the No.1 on his own car, racing suit, and even the team garage.

As such, speaking on finally having achieved such a massive accomplishment in his racing career, Lando Norris claimed that he was excited for the upcoming season. The reigning F1 champion claimed that he wanted some more time to lie back and enjoy the high of winning the driver’s title the previous year. Norris highlighted that he was not even able to take everything in over the month-long break.

Lando Norris joked that the winter break went by in a couple of weeks, and he could not even fully take in what he achieved in the 2025 season. However, it will surely take some more time to finally realize the massive accomplishment in his career. Norris was unable to grasp how his dream had turned into a reality the previous year. The one-time champion asserted that he was still trying to accept the reality and realize that it truly happened.

I’m excited for everything, I wish I had one more month to lay back and enjoy everything, take everything in. It was a few weeks off. It didn’t even feel like a month off. It was a few weeks off of just trying to realise what had happened last year. It had become a reality, my dream. I’m still, even now, trying to just accept it and realise that it’s happened.

Lando Norris said, as reported by RacingNews365.

Lando Norris aims to ‘do it all over again’ in 2026

McLaren’s performance during the initial testing session has remained promising as the team aims to replicate its dominant performance from the previous season. Given the new regulations, the initial few races might be a challenge for the Papaya squad as well. Regardless, with the positivity around Mercedes’ power unit development, Norris hopes to keep up with his success in the previous year in 2026 as well.

Lando Norris noted that the break was now over, and he had to return to the grid and fight for race wins every race weekend. The Briton’s 2025 title win gives him great confidence for his chances to succeed in the upcoming season. Still, Norris accepted that it would be a big challenge to perform well because of the regulation changes. Regardless, he was extremely delighted after having achieved something huge in his life.

But at the same time, it’s back to work and now we’ve got to try and do it all over again, So it makes me happy, it gives me good confidence coming into this season. But it’s so different, such a big challenge with all the regulations, all the changes this year. But I feel good. I’m happy I’ve accomplished something huge in my life.

Lando Norris noted.

The 2026 season is right around the corner, and Lando Norris’ time over the year will be far from easy. The Briton will have to face off against Oscar Piastri, who will be vying for his maiden title win. Moreover, Piastri will be even hungrier for the title win this year, more so because of the disappointing title loss in the previous year against Norris.
