Carlos Sainz is all set to make the move to Williams from the 2025 season after ending his tenure with Ferrari. The Spaniard had multiple opportunities to join better teams than Williams but decided to reside in the Grove-based constructor. As a result, Lando Norris took a dig at Sainz signing the team in the coming season.

Lando Norris is one of the better friends with Carlos Sainz on the grid and wasn’t hesitant to question the latter’s move to Williams. The Briton reckoned that knew Sainz well as he proved his skills and showcased that he deserved a good seat. However, the 30-year-old ‘wasted’ the opportunity after joining the Grove-based constructor.

Carlos is someone I know well. He’s proven himself enough in Formula 1 that he deserves a good seat. It’s a shame when that opportunity is lost, but I’m sure his time will come back again.

Norris also joked about the whole situation as Sainz wouldn’t be competing for race wins and podiums anymore. The 25-year-old claimed that he was happy that the Spaniard wasn’t in a quick car anymore. The Briton further noted that he had one less guy to race on the grid in the coming season.

Charles Leclerc also expressed gratitude to Carlos Sainz

Charles Leclerc also raced closely with Carlos Sainz over the four years that the latter raced for Ferrari. Hence, Leclerc noted that Sainz was incredibly talented and helped the former improve in more ways than one. The 26-year-old believed that the Spaniard was one of the major reasons behind Ferrari taking a step forward in terms of performing well.

Carlos is so incredibly talented. He’s helped me to improve in so many areas. If today we have done such a step forward, it’s a big thanks to Carlos.

Williams occupied the ninth spot in the constructors’ standings after enduring an extremely difficult season. Sainz might not be able to compete for race wins anymore with Williams but would try his best to improve the team’s pace. Time will tell about how the move pans out for the Spaniard in Formula 1 and if he will continue racing in the sport.
