But the Formula One Management wanted even more engagement from the US viewers–so they decided to arrange for the Las Vegas GP.

What is the length of the Las Vegas GP race track?

The seemingly gorgeous racetrack which will house the world’s first Las Vegas GP is currently under construction. It is a 3.8 mile track.

According to the same sources at Hollywood Reporter, the track runs from Koval Lane to Sands Avenue and then down Las Vegas Boulevard to Harmon Avenue. The construction of the race track started back in April and for this long the roads and areas in the vicinity have been blocked to restrict public transport.

How much did it cost to make the Las Vegas GP race track?

In an elaborate and ambitious plan by the FIA and the FOM, the Las Vegas Strip will be converted to a track for the first-ever Heineken Silver Las Vegas GP. According to Hollywood Reported, the entire engineering project has been estimated to cost around $560 million. This is only the cost for the civil side of things such as the construction of the track. Planning and executing the spectacular event would make the FOM bleed even more money.

Other facts about the Las Vegas GP race track that are worth knowing

The race track in Las Vegas is being built in one of the most important locations in North America. The various facts that makes it unique and interesting are:

  • The race track is 6.12 km long.
  • It boasts 2 DRS (Drag Reduction System) zones which would allow the racers to gain on their rivals and overtake them.
  • The track has 17 corners to allow close wheel-to-wheel races.
  • The track also has three straughts which would favor the cars that have gotten great straight-line speed like the McLarens.
  • The estimated top speed that can be achieved safely at the Las Vegas GP track is 212 mph.
