Lewis Hamilton will aim to bounce back from his horrendous Ferrari debut in the 2025 season. The Briton was unable to achieve even a podium finish in the previous year. As such, the seven-time champion will hope for a much better time to come under the new regulations. With the 2026 season being right around the corner, Hamilton ponders the impending ‘massive challenge’ in the upcoming season.

Following a nightmare of a debut with Ferrari in the 2025 season, Lewis Hamilton accepted that the ground-effect era ruined his F1 prime. The Briton, who had set his priority on the 2026 season long back, had skeptical remarks about the cars of the new generation. Now, Hamilton accepted that the regulation changes are bound to be difficult for both the drivers and teams.

Speaking on the upcoming regulation changes, Lewis Hamilton claimed that the shift was monumental. The 41-year-old boldly claimed that this change was the biggest regulation shift the sport witnessed, atleast since he was racing. Moreover, Hamilton insisted that every regulation change had been a massive challenge for everyone involved.

The regulation shift is monumental. It’s the biggest regulation shift I think our sport has seen, at least in my time. But every single time that it has been a shift into a new regulation it’s been a massive challenge.

Lewis Hamilton told Sky Sports F1.

Regardless of the massive shift in regulations, Lewis Hamilton reckoned that the new regulations would level the playing field in the 2026 season. As such, development was of the utmost importance, and the teams needed to come up with the best idea. Ultimately, the team needed to move ahead together in the right direction and keep building up on their performances.

Everyone starts from scratch, so it really levels the playing field. And then it’s really all about development, who can develop faster, who comes up with the best ideas. And then a unified team rowing at the same pace.

Lewis Hamilton reveals ‘extreme’ aspect of the 2026 F1 regulations

The 2026 F1 regulations are focusing more on active aerodynamics and increased hybrid usage in the power units. The likes of Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc, and even Esteban Ocon have claimed that the new regulations were completely different from previous ones. Now, Hamilton insisted that the upcoming regulations were much more extreme than those in the past.

Lewis Hamilton pointed out that Formula 1 and the technology used were continuously evolving compared to the past. Hamilton recalled the 2009 season and how the battery boost was used throughout the laps to gain extra speed on track. The current regulations were even more extreme, as per the seven-time champion, as the electrical power was being used in a completely different way.

I think the way the sport is evolving and the way that technology has evolved into this period of time… If you look back at 2009, there’s a period of time where we were utilising the battery power throughout the laps. This one’s even more extreme, where we’re having to utilise the power in a different way.

Lewis Hamilton noted.

Certainly, Ferrari will hope for a massive turnaround from their performances in the previous seasons. Lewis Hamilton will aim to start the season off with a bang and achieve good results from the get-go. The new regulations might finally witness a return of prime Hamilton as his championship-less streak continues.
