Kimi Antonelli has further strengthened his chances of acquiring a seat at Mercedes after his debut at the FP1 in the Italian GP. Multiple people believe that a deal has already been struck between Brackley and Antonelli. As a result, Lewis Hamilton was full of praise for the prodigy and noted that Mercedes’ environment would be a great fit for the Italian.

Lewis Hamilton has raced with Mercedes for quite a while alongside drivers of multiple ages. Hence, according to the 39-year-old, Kimi Antonelli had a great opportunity to grow with the Mercedes crew. Hamilton believed that he learned a lot from the very same people who would further nurture the Italian. Hence, the 18-year-old had a great environment in the people of the Mercedes crew.

FIA had received a special request to allow Kimi Antonelli to acquire a super license at just 17 years of age. Hence, the governing body allowed the exclusion as Antonelli was set to make his debut. However, Mercedes has further cemented Antonelli’s rumor to the German carmaker. The Italian is now highly likely to make his F1 debut as a rookie with the Mercedes team.

Lewis Hamilton claimed it was time for a ‘new wave’ of drivers to come through

A majority of the current Formula 1 grid is filled with people racing in the sport for longer than five years. As a result, there isn’t much young talent present in the pinnacle of motorsport. Hence, Lewis Hamilton believed that it was finally time to witness a new wave of young drivers to the sport.

I think we are starting to see a lot younger drivers coming through, and I think it's time for the new wave to come through.
Lewis Hamilton added.

Mercedes’ upturn in performance would provide Kimi Antonelli with great chances to showcase his racing talent. All eyes will be set on the debutant to impress the entire paddock during the practice session. Apart from this, Brackley will further attempt to speed up the process of revealing the news of the second driver in the team.
