Formula 1 power units have been under controversy ever since the sport moved to V6 turbo hybrids in 2014. 2026 will witness a major regulation change, albeit V6s will continue. Now, Lewis Hamilton has urged the rule makers to bring back V10 engines in the future.

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem recently hinted that V10s might be the right fit for the sport in the future. Red Bull team boss Christian Horner agreed with Sulayem’s views. On the other hand, Mercedes’ Toto Wolff refuted such a possibility.

Lewis Hamilton reckoned that he wants Formula 1 to have good sounding cars in the next twenty years. The seven-time world champion hoped that the sport will not go all-electric, and rather use V10 engines with sustainable fuels. This would help reduce F1’s carbon footprint while retaining the sound of the fan-favorite engines.

I hope that in 20 years we’ll have great races and we’ll have cars that sound good. I certainly hope it’s not completely electric, but sustainable with V10 or V12 engines, with a zero carbon footprint or something like that.

Lewis Hamilton won’t crack under pressure at Ferrari

Hamilton makes his debut at Ferrari this year. The 40-year-old will face high expectations this season. However, F1 pundit Martin Brundle reckoned that the seven-time world champion won’t really feel the heat at Maranello. Brundle highlighted that Lewis Hamilton knows how to deal with any situation in F1 and thus won’t crack under pressure.

I don’t think Lewis will feel any pressure. He’s been there, seen it, done it and won it. He’s won seven championships, he will not succumb to that.

Martin Brundle told Sky F1

Certainly, Lewis Hamilton hopes to bring glory back to Maranello this year. The British driver is determined to make a mark in the sport during stint with the Prancing Horse. As such, the Tifosi would be hoping to see the 40-year-old fight for race wins in the coming weeks.
