F1 has been soaring to new heights every weekend. MotoGP, on the other hand, witnessed a plateauing of interest, which led FOM owner Liberty Media to buy the two-wheeler series. This gave the series an influx of interest, which reportedly included Lewis Hamilton, who wanted to buy Marc Marquez‘s MotoGP team, Gresini Racing. Subsequently, the seven-time world champion has now given a diplomatic reply with regards to the rumors flying around the paddock.

Lewis Hamilton is known for his interest in two-wheeler racing. He had earlier acknowledged that he dreamt of racing bikes instead of cars. Moreover, this dream now seems to be coming into reality as he is understood to be the lead contender to buy Gresini Racing, having the star figure of Marc Marquez, who drives for them.

With rumors spooling within the paddock, Hamilton revealed his intentions.

I’m interested in the growth of the sport, but I haven’t looked that far into it just yet. But anything is possible. I’m definitely interested in equity and the Broncos was already a first step into team ownership. I think over the next five to ten years there will be hopefully more. We’ll see where.

The Brit elaborated that he is interested in the prospects of the MotoGP team. He further reiterated that he had already bought a stake in [Denver]Broncos NFL team and is optimistic about expanding his ownership beyond this and reckons anything to be possible.

On the other hand, Hamilton also owns a team in the Extreme E series. Witnessing the possibility of him owning a team in MotoGP, championship leader, Jorge Martin gave his reaction to the chatter within the paddock.

The 26-year-old was ecstatic with the rumors of Hamilton buying a team.

This is because the sport is growing, and for sure this is just the beginning. The future, the years that are coming next, will be really interesting for MotoGP. If someone really iconic like Hamilton wants to buy in MotoGP, it’s because something is changing and I’m really interested in that.

Martin claimed that Hamilton’s interest reveals that the sport is growing globally. Moreover, the future of MotoGP would be quite interesting which would have tempted the 39-year-old to dwell into the prospects of buying a MotoGP team.

Despite Hamilton’s interest, Marquez would leave the Gresini Racing squad after the conclusion of the 2024 season to move to the factory Ducati team. Thus, finalizing a deal with Hamilton might take a bit longer than anticipated for the Faenza-based team.
