Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton had a rollercoaster of a Canadian GP. The Briton topped the FP3 session and had great hopes in the race. However, Hamilton soon dropped in performance and qualified only in P7 for the main race. Hence, this was the reason behind his poor performance at the Canadian GP.

It was just over the weekend a poor performance from myself. Some other things came in yesterday and one of my poorest races.

Lewis Hamilton claims the W15 challenger was ‘capable of winning’ at the Canadian GP

Mercedes’ disappointing W15 challenger was extremely powerful at the Canadian GP. Both the Silver Arrows scored the fastest laps during the Q2 qualifying session. Hence, Brackley showcased great improvement after sporting multiple upgrades over the Monaco GP. The German carmaker had great hopes of a race win after a victory drought of almost two years.

However, multiple in-race incidents with both drivers saw both of them miss out on the victory. Regardless, Hamilton pointed out the W15’s excpetional pace at the Montreal circuit. The Briton added that the car was capable of scoring the race win this time around. Anyhow, for now, the team will have to make do with the great points scored at the race.

I think the car was capable of winning this weekend, but we will take the points.
Lewis Hamilton noted.

Mercedes can potentially score a massive turnaround from the start of the season. The team needs to keep up with the development battle against the rival teams. Red Bull’s struggling pace could further enable a shot at competing for the world championship in the 2024 season.
