Mercedes has scored a massive comeback at the Canadian GP. The team has been struggling ever since the beginning of the 2024 season. Brackley hasn’t scored any impressive results yet despite bringing major upgrades to Monaco. However, Montreal saw a massive turnaround as George Russell clinched pole position, and Lewis Hamilton once topped the FP3 session.
Lewis Hamilton scored the fastest lap during the Q2 session at the Canadian GP. However, the 39-year-old just missed out on the pole position despite topping a practice session. Hence, Hamilton reckoned that the chassis was feeling great the entire weekend amidst the degrading form. Regardless, the Qualifying session was a complete turnaround and the pace just ‘vanished’.
The car was feeling great all weekend, and soon as we got to qualifying that kind of vanished for me.Lewis Hamilton said during the post-session interview.

However, the Briton didn’t hold back from complimenting George Russell on his pole position. The seven-time world champion congratulated his counterpart. Hamilton added that the entire team did a great job over the weekend. Hence, such upgrading results will surely be beneficial to the constructor to perform well down the season.
Firstly, congratulations to George. He did a great job. Really great for the team, obviously everyone has been working so hard to bring upgrades so this is a huge boost for everyone back at the factory.Lewis Hamilton added.

Lewis Hamilton claimed the tires ‘didn’t work’ during the Qualifying session
The disappointing challenger performance was still evident in Mercedes’ W15 at the Canadian GP. Hamilton’s P7 qualifying was definitely nothing short of a disappointment. Hence, the 39-year-old lost all the performance from his chassis after topping the FP3 session. The Briton didn’t let this fact slide and showcased his disappointment with the drop in performance.

The Briton reiterated that the pace just somehow ‘disappeared’ from the car after the FP3 session. Apart from this, the tires from the W15 chassis didn’t work out for him as well. Hence, this was the nail in the coffin for Hamilton’s struggle during the 2024 season. However, the 39-year-old will have to work extra hard to move up the pecking order from P7.

Lewis Hamilton has a lot of work to do in order to score good results in the 2024 season. The team is far from their winning ways before the ground-effect era. The German carmaker will have to continue to update the chassis for the team with multiple in-season upgrades to the disappointing challenger.
