Lewis Hamilton was the talk of the town at the Miami GP after he lashed out on the team radio towards the end of the race. Hamilton was on a different tire strategy and wanted to be let past Charles Leclerc to fight for a better finish. However, the 40-year-old was unable to move up the pecking order and hence was ordered to hand the position back. In the heat of the moment, the Briton let out a few aggressive statements on the team radio. Now, the seven-time champion has revealed that he has sorted out the matter with the team and Fred Vasseur.

Lewis Hamilton wasn’t mincing his words while berating Ferrari’s strategy on the team radio. Hamilton came clean after the race and pointed out that he could’ve said much worse on the team radio but refrained from it. Moreover, the Briton clarified that he did not mean to offend the team or the engineers and just lashed out in the heat of the moment. All seems to have now settled down in the Italian garage as the 40-year-old revealed that he sorted the matter with Fred Vasseur.

Hamilton shared the details of the debrief he had with Fred Vasseur in the garage right after the race. The 40-year-old candidly spoke on the matter and attempted his best to control the damage that his words could’ve caused in their relationship. He asked Vasseur not to get too sensitive on the matter, as he wasn’t that aggressive on the team radio and could’ve said much worse. The Briton also recalled how other drivers have said much worse in their pit wall in the past for any issues faced on track.

Fred came to my room. I just put my hand on his shoulder and was like, ‘Dude, calm down. Don’t be so sensitive.’ I could have said way worse things on the radio. You hear some of the things others have said in the past.

Hamilton tried to defend his words and reckoned that a majority of what he said was pure sarcasm with no ill intent. The seven-time world champion further emphasized he was under immense pressure on track from Carlos Sainz right behind his tail. This was the reason behind the seemingly aggressive radio message from the seven-time champion. Still, the Briton reassured that he would try to have a better grip on his candor in the coming races. Such radio rants are not uncommon in F1, and fans shouldn’t fully blame Lewis Hamilton.

Some of it was sarcasm. Look, you’ve got to understand we’re under a huge amount of pressure within the car. You’re never going to get the most peaceful messages coming through in the heat of the battle. It was fine.

Lewis Hamilton insists he ‘enjoyed the race’ despite the aggressive radio

Lewis Hamilton couldn’t replicate his sprint race performance, where he finished P3 for the main race. He faced massive struggles on track to move up the pecking order despite running on a faster compound. However, even after facing multiple disappointing situations, Hamilton claims that the race was quite enjoyable and he had fun racing out on the track.

Hamilton pointed out that, ironically, he had fun at the Miami GP despite the race being very difficult. The 40-year-old acknowledged that the team wasn’t in an ideal place and wanted to improve in performance. Moreover, Ferrari was losing pace instead of gaining it over the races, and couldn’t keep up with development. As such, he now awaited the Italian constructor to regain the lost pace and start competing at the forefront against the rivals.

I really enjoyed the race, if I’m honest. It was difficult… We’re not where we wanna be, we’re lacking clearly a lot of pace, we’ve lost some performance over the past races and we know where it is, and we’re just waiting for a fix to regain some of it.

Lewis Hamilton said in a post-race interview

It seems that Lewis Hamilton is already back to his positive self and is ready to give it his all for Ferrari. Despite facing so many negatives, Hamilton refuses to give up so soon. The 40-year-old is likely to keep attempting to improve his position in the pecking order and contend for the race wins. Currently, Ferrari has to bridge a massive gap against the rivals in terms of pace, as they are desperately behind the leading pack.
