In the Formula 1 off-season, the seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton announced his departure from Mercedes and move to Ferrari in 2025. The move was pretty shocking and everyone wants to know what may be the reason the 39-year-old left the team who’s been supporting him since he was 13 years old.
Following this topic, recently Lewis Hamilton was asked about why he decided to suddenly leave Mercedes. The 39-year-old revealed he’s not leaving the team because of any relationship issues.
Lewis Hamilton has won several world championships with Mercedes over the years.
For me, this whole journey has been massively emotional just because I have so much love for this team. I’m not leaving because I’m unhappy there. I’m not leaving because of relationship issues. Mercedes supported me since I was 13 so I love the brand. I love the people. They’ve been with me through thick and thin. So it’s definitely a strange transition at the moment.Lewis Hamilton said in an interview with CBS
Hamilton hasn’t won a Grand Prix since 2021, and he further added that he is leaving Mercedes because he wants to win and fight for the top step of the podium. Hamilton and the German outfit have shared the most successful driver-team pairing of all time and hopefully, they will end their partnership with success this season.
Lewis Hamilton reveals “he’s had enough” with Mercedes
As indicated above, Lewis Hamilton hasn’t won a Grand Prix since the penultimate round of 2021 in Saudi Arabia. The driver has since then struggled as Mercedes has gone from the best team on the grid, to now in 2024 being the fourth fastest. This has led the Brit to reveal he’s had enough after the last three years with the team.
I actually really enjoyed that experience. But three years in now, we’re like, okay, I’ve had enough of this, let’s get back to where we belong.

The 39-year-old revealed that at the start it was a fun experience fighting and developing with his team, but after three years, it’s become too much. It seems like the Briton really wants to get back to the top once again in F1. It is believed that Hamilton wants to win the elusive eighth world championship before finally bringing the curtain down on his illustrious career for good.
