Lewis Hamilton has faced a very difficult time with Ferrari in his debut year. The Briton has been unable to amass any notable results in the first 14 races with the team. The remainder of the 2025 season could be better for Hamilton as he has been sending documents to Ferrari, potentially about fixes to the cars. However, people speculated that the 40-year-old was commanding the team to operate according to his whims in the document. Now, the seven-time champion has clarified his side of the story and revealed the truth.
Ferrari has been giving it their all to come out of the massive performance slump and start scoring better results with Lewis Hamilton. Even though the Briton misses his previous team, as the challengers of both teams are completely different, he is still in it for the long run and hopes to recover from the slump soon. In a typical Hamilton fashion, he has been sending documents to Maranello, the contents of which weren’t revealed to the public.
Due to the secrecy of the contents of the documents, Lewis Hamilton was suspected of giving orders and commands to Ferrari. Now, Hamilton has come clean and revealed what was actually in the papers all along. The 40-year-old clarified that there were no direct orders; rather, ideas about what could be done on the car to make it better. The seven-time champion hoped to ‘ease up’ certain areas of the car and make it better with the information he sent to the crew.
There were no orders in it. It was just ideas like, ‘Hey, if we did this, have we tried this? If we did this, perhaps we can ease up certain areas or we can be better.’

Further, Hamilton noted that he simply wanted to have conversations and brainstorm with the Team Principal, Fred Vasseur. The 40-year-old asserted that Vasseur had been very patient and responsive with him in terms of the back-and-forth of the document. As such, with the seven-time champion’s feedback and expertise, Maranello could soon bounce back from the performance struggles and emerge as a winning force.
It’s just about having conversations. Fred, as I said, as a team, has been really responsive.

Charles Leclerc reveals he’s ‘not creating documents’ like Lewis Hamilton
Charles Leclerc has managed to keep the issues of the SF-25 challenger at bay and perform better as compared to Lewis Hamilton. The two teammates are currently separated by 42 points, with Leclerc leading the battle. The Monegasque has been at the Italian constructor for four years and counting, but he hasn’t been sending documents to the team like Lewis Hamilton.

Charles Leclerc revealed that despite not sending regular documents to the team on improving the car, he was still involved in the process all along. Leclerc asserted that he had meetings whenever he was in and around the factory at Maranello. The Monegasque reassured that every driver had their own ways of feeding information back to the team, as his mindset was different from that of Lewis Hamilton.
I’m of course involved. I’m not creating documents on my side, but I’m definitely having meetings whenever I’m back in Maranello with the team to know what is the next thing we want to tackle as a team. Every single driver has their way of feeding back the team. I have my way, which is different compared to Lewis, but that doesn’t mean I’m left out. I’m definitely involved in the process.

Ferrari will have to focus massively on covering their deficit in pace against the rivals. Even though the Italian constructor has occupied the runner-up spot in the constructors’ championship, they seem to struggle on race day. As such, Hamilton and Leclerc’s feedback combined is definitely going to help the Scuderia gain incredible insight into the car and its issues.
