Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time world champion, has been on a downward spiral since the end of the 2021 season. The ground effect era has not proved kind to Mercedes and because of this, Hamilton has been forced to fight in the midfield.
However, while things have been downright painful, Lewis Hamilton has recently taken the time to talk about how he deals with his current situation. The 39-year-old’s last Grand Prix win came in 2021 at the Saudi Arabian GP.
During the ongoing 2024 season, Hamilton finds himself in eighth place in the drivers’ standings.
I don't find it that difficult if I'm being honest. I think when you really enjoy something and when you really care, you make a decision whether it's a priority, and it is a priority. It's something that I love doing. I feel constantly challenged by it, and by the people around me.Lewis Hamilton said in an interview with GPBlog
Hamilton is one of the best drivers to ever step foot into the world of F1. He’s the joint highest championship (7) record holder alongside Michael Schumacher and this is one of the reasons why many believe that the Brit is still competing in the sport. The latter is in search of the elusive eighth world title.
Lewis Hamilton still wants to make noteworthy ‘progress’ in F1
While Hamilton has admitted that not winning a race for a long time does not bother him, he has also indicated that he still wants to perform in F1. He will be seen repping the red gear of Ferrari from the 2025 season onward.
I'm enjoying the challenges both physically and mentally, then obviously, when it comes to teamwork. Every year, it's just different, like, it's never what you expect. I think that's a great thing. You're always trying to progress. You don't always do it. But that's life, right?Lewis Hamilton said in the same interview
The Ferrari F1 team has shown significant improvement during the ongoing 2024 season. They are challenging Red Bull quite regularly and these are positive signs from the point of view of Lewis Hamilton.
