Lewis Hamilton was unable to contend for his record-breaking eighth driver’s title win in the 2025 season with Ferrari. Despite the massive commotion behind his move to Maranello, he couldn’t even achieve a podium finish over the 24 races. To make matters worse, Hamilton fell desperately behind Charles Leclerc and lost the teammate battle to the latter. Now, the 40-year-old boldly claims that he doesn’t care about this loss; rather, his focus is on something different.

Since the beginning of the 2025 season, Lewis Hamilton was unable to perform well or emerge as a dominating factor on track. Though Charles Leclerc‘s season wasn’t anything great either, he still managed a handful of podium finishes. Towards the end of the year, Hamilton finished sixth in the standings, with Leclerc being in fifth, but 86 points ahead.

Despite losing the intra-team battle at Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton isn’t concerned about it. The Briton is aware that he finished his debut year with Maranello and was still getting used to the Italian squad. Meanwhile, Charles Leclerc had been with the Scuderia for over seven years now and hence was used to it. Hamilton reassured that his focus was on his side of the garage and not Leclerc’s.

I’m not concerned about it, no. I’ve just been focusing on my side during this period.

Lewis Hamilton said, as reported by Planetf1.

Lewis Hamilton accepted that Charles Leclerc had done a great job. However, he continued that Leclerc had been with the team for seven years and hence was used to the environment. Hamilton pointed out that the Monegasque had built a team that worked around him for many years. The seven-time champion labeled Leclerc’s camp as a well-oiled machine that was able to extract performance despite the difficulties.

Obviously, Charles has done a great job. He’s been there for seven years. He’s got a team around him that he’s worked with for many years. So, it’s a well-oiled machine.

Lewis Hamilton claims it ‘takes time’ to excel with a team

Lewis Hamilton had been racing for Mercedes for over 12 years and was able to emerge as a championship-winning force in his second year for the team. Though his debut with Brackley wasn’t so problematic, he still faced some issues in his first season. As such, Hamilton is aware that dominating in terms of performance with a team took time and that he would return to his winning ways soon enough.

Speaking about his crew at Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton noted that he had a new group of people alongside the completely new environment. Hamilton reassured that he and his team were working as hard as possible to come out of the problematic state and start winning races. However, the 40-year-old asserted that this process took some time, and he wouldn’t be dominating immediately.

On my side, it’s a new group of people. For me, it’s a new environment that I’m still getting used to working with. Then I had another new member halfway through the year. So, we’re all working as hard as we can, but getting that to work as well as someone that’s had it for several years is not… you don’t just do it like that. It takes a bit of time.

Lewis Hamilton noted.

Ferrari will need to work extremely hard on the performance and ensure better times for Lewis Hamilton and Co. The team must begin the new regulations on the right foot as it will set their pace for the remainder of the regulations. For now, the Briton will enjoy the off-season break and hope to return as a much better force than he was in the 2025 season.
