Lewis Hamilton‘s weekend at the Belgian GP was nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. The Briton couldn’t amass any impressive results in the sprint sessions, also suffering from a Q1 elimination in both Qualifying sessions. However, the challenging conditions at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit helped the 40-year-old achieve a great recovery drive, as he ultimately finished in P7. Following a mediocre outing in Belgium, Hamilton opens up about his blunders that led to such problems.
Lewis Hamilton started the race from P18 and gained 11 positions and finally achieved an impressive P7 finish. The Briton reminisced about his childhood karting days, where he raced under similar circumstances and had fun moving up the circuit after starting from behind. However, despite a great recovery on Sunday, Hamilton expressed disappointment about his performances leading up to the main race, which could’ve gone much better.
Reflecting on the rainy conditions at the Belgian GP, Lewis Hamilton pointed out that he grew up racing in these conditions, as his race performance was much better than expected. Still, a P7 finish did not make up for the massive blunders he committed in the preceding sessions. Hamilton fully apologized to his fans as he let them down despite them having great hopes banked on him.
Lewis Hamilton asserted that there was more than one factor that led to his woeful outing throughout the Belgian GP weekend. The Friday sessions, consisting of one Practice and a Sprint Qualifying session, Hamilton claimed that it wasn’t much of his fault. But, come Saturday, the 40-year-old accepted that it was completely his fault and he could’ve avoided the Q1 elimination from the main Qualifying.
These are definitely conditions in which I grew up, which have given me so many opportunities and I have learned to love. I want to continue to apologize to the fans for this weekend. There are many factors that led to these mistakes, especially the one on Friday, while the one on Saturday was totally my fault.

Lewis Hamilton to ‘keep pushing’ for rest of 2025
Lewis Hamilton’s best result this season is only a sprint race victory in China, as he is yet to achieve even a podium finish in a race. The 40-year-old has remained vocal about the issues he’s facing at Ferrari, especially in terms of performance. Regardless of facing constant disappointment, the seven-time champion is ready to keep pushing and give it his all in the remaining 11 races this year.

Hamilton might have already given up on winning races or the championship this season, but the year is far from over, as he is yet to give up on improving his results. The Briton reckoned that Ferrari took home great points and outscored Mercedes, which is yet another positive to take out of the Belgian weekend. The 40-year-old revealed that he now had a better understanding of the SF-25 chassis and its quirks as he hopes to resurrect his pace soon.
I’ll keep pushing, we took home a few points, stretching on Mercedes, which is good. Now I have a better understanding of the changes we have made. We will be back at the factory.

Ferrari still has a long way to go as their runner-up position in the constructors’ championship is just 28 points adrift of Mercedes, right behind them. The Italian constructor must ensure that they commit no mistakes in terms of strategies or car setup in the remaining races if they want to provide Lewis Hamilton a realistic shot at improving his form. Now, time will tell about how the Scuderia fends off against Brackley and maintains their P2 finish in the standings.
