Lewis Hamilton sheds light on factors making ‘rival’ Michael Schumacher a ‘great human being’

Mercedes’ driver Lewis Hamilton has praised seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher for his successful family life. Schumacher and Hamilton have both raced for the Silver Arrows and share the joint record for the most titles in Formula 1.
Michael Schumacher is often regarded as one of, if not the greatest, drivers at the pinnacle of motorsport. Having raced for prestigious teams such as Ferrari, Jordan, and Benetton, he has successfully made his mark in the sport. Schumacher retired in 2012 after amassing 91 wins in his glorious career.
Lewis Hamilton has thereafter labeled the German as a humble and sincere family man. The 39-year-old says that he and Schumacher shared a bond of respect despite being sworn rivals once upon a time.
I think of Michael more than a rival, but as a human being and a family man. The family he created with Corinna, their humility and sincerity, best describes Michael’s greatness.

Hamilton is set to join Schumacher’s former team Ferrari in 2025, spending 12 years with Mercedes. The Brit will aim to secure a record eighth drivers’ championship title when he dons red overalls for the first time in Australia next year.
Mercedes shift expectations from championship to a newer objective for 2025
Mercedes has not had a good run this season. Having won only thrice in over 20 races, issues have been prevalent for the Brackley-based team. They now head into the remaining races with nothing more to gain in the constructors’ championship.
Mercedes Trackside Engineering director Andrew Shovlin has since reiterated the team’s objectives ahead of the Las Vegas GP. Shovlin states that the team focus will now be to gain information on bringing changes for the upcoming season.
The big focus in these remaining races for us is learning what we can. We are in a position in the championship where we cannot challenge in front of us. It is very unlikely we are going to see any challenge from behind. Our focus has very much shifted to learning what we need to do this year to apply to next year in order to get on top of those issues.

With the departure of Lewis Hamilton, the Silver Arrows are faced with the daunting task of replacing him. Having signed Andrea Kimi Antonelli for 2025, they will now have to nurture his talent in order to rise among the ranks in Formula 1.
