Lewis Hamilton‘s 2025 campaign with the Scuderia kicked off with a shakedown of the SF-25. The seven-time world champion took the 2025 car for a spin at the iconic Fiorano circuit. Now, Hamilton has highlighted the stark difference in the car compared to Mercedes machinery.

The F1 star had already tested out the 2023 championship-winning SF-23 last month. Yet, the 2025 shakedown was a major event as fans cheered for Hamilton at the Tifosi bridge. Lewis Hamilton confessed that he expected the car to be just like his older Formula 1 cars at McLaren and Mercedes.

However, the 40-year-old recognized that the little difference between McLaren and Mercedes was probably due to the same Mercedes power units. On the other hand, things were far different with the SF-25. Lewis Hamilton admitted that his new F1 car was nothing like what he had previously raced in Formula 1.

I thought, ‘It’s another Formula One car.’ I thought it would be [like] when I went from McLaren to Mercedes; there were similarities, but I guess it’s still powered by Mercedes. So the sound, the vibration was all the same. It was similar… This is a [big] step, with the whole thing being completely different

The seven-time world champion is rejuvenated by his switch to Maranello. Hamilton claimed that he had been waiting to take the car out on track for a long time. The Briton reckoned that this feels like an uncharted journey, and the most exciting thing in his life. Previously, Lewis Hamilton had labeled his move a ‘leap of faith.’

I’ve been waiting such a long time for it, so firing the car up, it’s like such a new, uncharted journey, and it’s the most exciting thing that’s happened to me for as long as I can remember.

Lewis Hamilton explained

The F1 star certainly has high ambitions for his tenure at the Scuderia. Lewis Hamilton wants to win a world championship in red. However, competition will only make things difficult for this new partnership. As such, the Tifosi will hope that Hamilton and Ferrari start the 2025 season on a high note at the season-opener in Melbourne.
