Ahead of the Chinese GP, while interacting with the media, Lewis Hamilton poked fun at his Mercedes teammate, George Russell. The seven-time world champion and Russell have been teammates since the latter joined Mercedes in 2022, and this being Hamilton’s last year at Mercedes, they are trying to make the most out of it.
Although Hamilton is the second-oldest driver on the grid, he feels relatively young. In contrast, he believes that George Russell is experiencing more physical issues than him. Russell questioned if it was actually true.
In a peculiar retort, Hamilton stated, ‘You are spending more time in Physio than I am.’
Lewis: Nearing 40 years old, I feel young still. I think he’s [George] got more problems physically than I do today.
George: Do I?
Lewis: I know you are spending more time with your physio than I am.

Drivers are always seen having fun on media day, ahead of the strenuous racing weekend. During this eventful day, they interact with their fans, shoot videos for their team’s social media handles, do interviews, and have a good time. Russell and Hamilton were doing the same during the recent Shanghai event.
Lewis Hamilton claims he is going to race a few more years
Being the second oldest driver on the grid, right behind Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton will join him in the 40s club next season. Alonso just renewed his contract with Aston Martin for two years, and Hamilton has signed a contract with Ferrari from 2025 onward.
Hamilton believes having someone close to his age on the F1 grid is a good thing.
I am not the oldest driver here. I am going to be racing for quite some time still so it is good [Alonso] is still around. I never thought I would be racing into my 40s. I'm pretty sure I said I wouldn't. But life is such a crazy trip. I don't feel 40. I generally feel great.Lewis Hamilton via: BBC
While Hamilton does have vivid dreams about his future after racing, he is desperate to win his record-breaking eighth world championship. The 39-year-old has won pretty much everything that there is to win in the sport, the only thing that’s missing in his accolades collection is another title. He could potentially do it next year if Ferrari manages to produce a potent car.
