Lewis Hamilton‘s recent races with Mercedes have been challenging, marked by poor strategies and car issues. The latest Singapore GP tested him further, as he battled not only these mechanical problems but also the intense heat inside the cockpit. Although he showed promise at the US GP with strong driving, luck was not on his side and the day ultimately ended in disappointment.

At the start of the sprint qualifying, Lewis Hamilton looked incredibly fast around the Circuit of the Americas. He set the fastest lap and dominated the session for most of the time. Ultimately, he finished SQ1 in P2, just behind Charles Leclerc, who finished on Pole.

However, the issues for the Briton began in third session with Franco Colapinto losing control of the car which brought the yellow flag. Hamilton recognized this as bad luck, remarking, “It is what it is,” and expressed disappointment that he was four-tenths of a second faster before the incident.

Despite his unlucky factor he emphasized that the upgrade brought to the car to improve the airflow and aerodynamics overall worked really well. He expressed his gratitude to everyone at the factory, recognizing their hard work during a challenging period to implement these upgrades. Hamilton highlighted that it hasn’t been easy for the team, facing numerous difficulties in developing and ensuring the upgrades function properly.

The good thing is the team has made a step with the car, the upgrades have clearly worked. Really grateful to everyone back at the factory for all the hard work.

Lewis Hamilton expresses optimism after taking a gamble on car changes at the US GP

Lewis Hamilton acknowledged that his team performed exceptionally well in sprint qualifying, attributing their results to luck. Despite the challenges, he remains optimistic about performing well in the sprints and achieving the desired outcomes. The seven-time world champion praised his team for their excellent work between sessions in adjusting the car.

He recognized that making changes can be a gamble, as it’s difficult to predict their effectiveness. However, he felt a remarkable improvement as soon as he got back in the car, which boosted his confidence moving forward.

It’s not the end of the day. Tomorrow we get another chance. We did a great job in between [sessions] to make changes to the car and it’s always a bit of a gamble cause you don’t know whether or not it’s gonna work– and soon as I got out of the car it was night and day difference.

Lewis Hamilton explained.

Certainly, Lewis Hamilton is eager to make the most of his last six races with Mercedes, aiming to secure victories before his move to Ferrari. The Briton is determined to finish the season on a high note. Thus, he wants to give back to the team that has supported him throughout his championship winning years.
