Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton finished P2 and P3 during the first two practice sessions at Baku on Friday. Hamilton has won twice this season despite starting on a slower note as compared to his past campaigns.
Lewis Hamilton is set to depart for Ferrari in 2025 after spending 12 years with the Brackley-based Silver Arrows. Hamilton has secured six championships with the team, successfully establishing his legacy as one of the absolute greats.

The 39-year-old was in high praise of the team’s efforts in delivering a good car during Friday practice. Hamilton claimed that the W15 felt near perfect with seemingly no issues to work on ahead of Saturday.
It was a really good day. I enjoyed today. I hit the ground running. From the get go made incremental steps with the setup. For once, it felt like we didn't have any steps to come back on. It was like consistently building.Lewis Hamilton said after FP2 at Baku
So the team reverted to the old floor and they seem to be there or thereabouts again? Interesting… ??#AzerbaijanGP ?? pic.twitter.com/7ESBzo0rzg

The seven-time world champion is currently in search of redemption, having failed to fully showcase his skills over the last two races. The race on Sunday will be a fitting affair for Hamilton as he looks to end his last eight races with the Silver Arrows on a high.
George Russell shares his thoughts after dismal performance in Baku FP2
Contrary to Lewis Hamilton’s performance, George Russell‘s Friday outing was far from ideal around the streets of Baku. Russell finished P9 during FP2 while facing some issues with the power supply of his W15.

Today wasn't the smoothest Friday we've ever had. Unfortunately, we lost a little bit of running time with a precautionary power unit change ahead of FP2. Once we were out on track, I wasn't completely happy with the balance of the car.George Russell said after FP2 on Friday at Baku

George Russell asserted that he faced issues with the balance of the W15 after changing the power unit at the start of FP2. Russell further said that the precautionary power supply change cost him some valuable time as well.
Russell has been the better driver among himself and Hamilton in qualifying this season. The team will now try to resolve the issues with the 26-year-old’s car in order to help him revive his form for an important weekend at Baku.
