Even before the commencement of the 2024 campaign, the silly season has been soaring high. The news of Lewis Hamilton switching to Ferrari from next year had shocked the world. This showed the unpredictability of F1 transfers. Now, with Adrian Newey being rumored to leave Red Bull, a move to Ferrari may be on the cards, as claimed by Hamilton.
Adrian Newey is regarded as the best designer to have ever graced the F1 landscape. Newey’s designs have won multiple championships over the past two decades, and another two could be added by the end of the ongoing season. However, due to recent power struggles, he is reported to have been deliberating about leaving Red Bull and finding a home elsewhere in the paddock.
Considering the recent rumors, Lewis Hamilton seemed optimistic that his compatriot may join him in Maranello.
I think my move has just shown that anything is possible. It's gonna be a really interesting next six months or so.Lewis Hamilton said in an interview
The 39-year-old claimed that anything is possible and no move should be written off, referring to Newey’s shift to the Italian powerhouse. Moreover, Hamilton would be hoping for this move to become a reality as a car designed like Newey at Ferrari, could spell disaster for others and provide him the machinery to claim the elusive eighth world title.
F1 Pundit claims it is now or never for Adrian Newey to join Ferrari
Craig Slater is a fan-favorite F1 analyst and commentator in the paddock. Subsequently, witnessing Hamilton’s move to Maranello, Slater has claimed that it is one last opportunity for Newey to move to the iconic red-colored outfit.
The F1 pundit gave the Red Bull designer a reality check.
He [Newey] is 65 years of age now. For many years, he has perhaps thought about the potential of working with Ferrari, a little bit like Lewis Hamilton on the driving side. If it’s not now, then when? So perhaps he is thinking now is the time to make one final move if he is to make it or it will be too late.Craig Slater said on the Sky Sports F1 YouTube channel
Slater indicated that Newey is in his mid-60s and that it would be impossible for him to work into his 70s. However, despite the speculations, the Austrian giant is certain that Newey would not leave Milton Keynes anytime soon, considering their success as an alliance. The silly season is in full swing and a shocking move could be on the cards at either end of the grid.
