Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton has a strong connection to Brazil. Despite being British, his exceptional performances and aura have earned him honorary Brazilian citizenship.

The Mercedes driver’s 2016 win secured his third F1 title, while his 2021 drive from P10 to victory was iconic. The Brazilian fans have a special affection towards the Briton, particularly after his iconic 2021 comeback victory.
However, recent years have been challenging for the 39-year-old due to track changes and Mercedes’ struggles. Hamilton explained that his W15 was very unstable and difficult to handle which made it challenging for him.
Hamilton’s challenging start to the 24-lap sprint event saw him lose three places to midfield drivers and fall to P14. He fought back to regain the lost positions but struggled in a DRS train that hindered overtaking opportunities. Ultimately, he finished P11, which restored his qualifying position but resulted in zero points.
Lewis Hamilton puts F1 CEO on the spot after Brazilian GP qualifying postponed.
Heavy rain forced the postponement of qualifying for the Brazilian GP because the track was unsafe, even with marshals working hard to clear standing water. During an interview, Lewis Hamilton approached F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali and playfully interrupted him to express his frustration.
Hamilton called the situation ridiculous, emphasizing that he wanted to race. He told Domenicali to provide drivers with better wet tires and tire blankets for such conditions.
The Briton will start Sunday’s Brazilian GP in P16, after getting knocked out in Q3. He will have his work cut out to move up the field and bag some points for his team.
