Lewis Hamilton has appeared multiple times at the Met Gala. His most popular appearance was in 2021 when he wore a custom Kenneth Nicholson outfit, featuring a white lace shirt, black suit, and long lace train. As a strong advocate for the Black community, Hamilton frequently shares his support on social media. In 2025, the Met Gala will host an event called Superfine: Tailoring Black Style and Hamilton will co-chair alongside Pharrell Williams and A$AP Rocky.
Lewis Hamilton delivered a heartfelt message about becoming a co-chair of the Met Gala. He never imagined he would reach this achievement. Dressed in a stylish brown suit by Dior, he spoke at the Met Museum. The Briton emphasized the theme of celebrating Black culture and style, which resonates with his personal journey and challenges in racing.
As the only Black driver on the track, he felt immense pressure to succeed. Many people doubted him when he started his career. Hamilton highlighted the importance of representation and embracing one’s identity.
This theme speaks to me deeply. When I started my career I never imagined what I might be capable of beyond my sport. The pressure to confirm so many people back. Growing up as the only black kid on the track, so often that pressure got to me.

Hamilton shared that expressing himself through creativity has always provided him with a sense of freedom. He believes that fashion plays a crucial role for Black people around the world. For them, fashion is not just about style but a way to protect themselves and their identity.
Hamilton looks forward to exploring these ideas further and giving a platform to the unheard voices. The Briton is excited to amplify the stories and experiences of those who often go unnoticed in the fashion world. Hence, through this journey, he aims to celebrate the beauty and diversity of Black culture.
Expressing myself creatively was and still is my freedom from that conformity. For black people across the diaspora, fashion is self preservation. Fashion is resilient and I can’t wait to further explore and amplify our unpresented voices.

Kamala Harris names Lewis Hamilton as her favorite F1 driver
During an interview on the Howard Stern Show, American presidential candidate Kamala Harris discussed her love for Formula 1. She shared that her entire family enjoys watching the races, too. However, she admitted that her busy campaign schedule leaves her little time to follow the sport. Despite this, Harris still makes an effort to watch when she can.
When asked about her favorite driver, she fondly mentioned Lewis Hamilton, praising his incredible success and the challenges he has faced. Harris expressed sadness over Hamilton’s decision to leave Mercedes after over a decade with the team. Her admiration for the Briton shined through as she reflected on his achievements in the sport.
