Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton appeared pleased with his team’s efforts after a hard-fought P4 at the Mexican GP. Hamilton started the race in P6 but made swift moves to make the most out of a difficult weekend.

Lewis Hamilton has not had a very fruitful season so far. He has nevertheless won twice and secured four podiums for the Silver Arrows. Hamilton has especially struggled to find pace in qualifying sessions despite showing promise in most practice sessions this season.

The 39-year-old was therefore satisfied having made increments to his starting position in Mexico. He applauded his team for their resilience and brilliance during the 71-lap race at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

Hamilton departs for Ferrari at the end of this season, bringing a glorious era with Mercedes to a close. His focus will now be to maximize the performances in order to bid farewell to the Brackley-based team on a high.

While Lewis Hamilton managed a P4 finish in the 71-lap race, he did not have a fruitful outing in yesterday’s qualifying. After the session, Lewis Hamilton shared his thoughts after yet again failing to qualify on the front row.

The car felt good in FP3, [before] qualifying I didn’t change anything, then in qualifying it completely turns on its head. It’s definitely a frustrating qualifying session but that’s every qualifying session I’ve had this year.

Hamilton claimed that his W15 felt proper in terms of performance in FP3 but was back to causing problems in qualifying. He felt that this sudden shift had been unexplainable throughout the qualifying sessions this year.

Despite his shortfalls, Hamilton has fought tooth and nail to notch maximum points for his team. His efforts will however need greater fuel, which would mean for his team to fix the issues of the W15 from here on.
