Lewis Hamilton‘s debut at Ferrari in the 2025 season has remained nothing short of a disappointment. The Briton was expected to return the Italian constructor to its lost glory, which seems like a far-fetched dream now. Despite continuous attempts to improve their condition, Maranello has failed to keep the problems at bay. Now, Hamilton reveals the team’s priority as he looks for a better condition of the team in the coming season.
Lewis Hamilton didn’t hesitate to accept the team’s shortcomings in terms of performance. Moreover, the Briton was also involved in a debate on the team radio during live races due to their questionable strategic calls. Many people reckoned that Hamilton’s time at Ferrari was more reminiscent of his struggles with Mercedes in his final years. Regardless, the 40-year-old is ready to start from the beginning and build the team from the ground up as they hope to steer clear of the massive slump.
Ferrari’s SF-25 challenger seems to remain mediocre in pace despite bringing in multiple updates. This year is just ten races in, with 14 more to go as Lewis Hamilton hopes for a better performance in the coming races. However, the team will have to give up on building this year’s car at some point and focus on developing a challenger for the new regulations of the 2026 season.
Speaking about the SF-25 mediocre pace, Hamilton pointed out that Ferrari hoped to atleast fight for the runner-up spot in the constructors’ championship. That would be very realistic of the Italian constructor to achieve if they keep up with consistent efforts. However, the seven-time champion accepted that his priority was to have a car that was capable of winning races under the upcoming regulations of Formula 1.
The fact is, with this car, hopefully we can still fight for second in the constructors’. That would be great. But I want a car that can win next year. So, that’s priority.

Lewis Hamilton reveals ‘interesting’ factor of racing for Ferrari
Lewis Hamilton raced with Mercedes for over 12 seasons before taking a massive leap and joining Ferrari from the 2025 season. The Briton faced a completely new set of crew members, as he would have found difficulties in accustoming himself to them. However, the 40-year-old now seems to have settled in well and is looking to improve his condition as soon as possible. As such, Hamilton shares his opinion on the interesting factor in racing for a historic team like the Scuderia.

Hamilton pinpointed that he was in his first half of the year with a completely different team. Hence, it is understandable that it takes him some time to get used to the people. Moreover, after moving from Mercedes after over a decade, the Briton revealed that it was interesting to witness how differently Ferrari worked as compared to the other teams on the grid.
Yeah, it’s my first half of the year in a new team, It’s interesting to see how different teams work and operate.
Lewis Hamilton noted
Ferrari now needs a miracle of a comeback in performance if they seriously want to remain in contention for either of the championships. According to Lewis Hamilton, Maranello might already have given up on winning the constructors’ championship this year. Still, a majority of the 2025 season is pending, as anything can happen in the remaining 14 races. The Italian constructor could stay at the top of the development war if they figure out the underlying issue in their car, which is causing the performance slump.
