Lewis Hamilton suffered from an extremely woeful debut with Ferrari in the 2025 season. The Briton failed to achieve even a podium finish in what was supposed to be his championship contention year. Following an extremely underwhelming outing this year, Hamilton was rumored to consider early retirement from Maranello. However, the 40-year-old has spoken out about these rumors and revealed the ground reality.
The struggles for Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari were so much so that he labeled his debut year as a nightmare for him. He failed to amass any notable results and even struggled to make it out of the Q1 qualifying session in multiple races.
Hamilton stood P6 in the standings and was just six points ahead of his Mercedes replacement, Kimi Antonelli. Because of this, many people asked the 40-year-old to retire from the sport and call it quits before the sport left him.
Following a massively underwhelming debut in the 2025 season, Lewis Hamilton noted that he aimed to unplug from the matrix and take a much-deserved break. The 40-year-old hoped not to participate in any media activities and not contact anyone concerning the sport as well. Now, the seven-time champion responded to people asking him to exit F1 amid failing results.
Lewis Hamilton had a simple answer to the people asking him to call it quits early. The 40-year-old insisted that he had nothing to say to the naysayers. Furthermore, he claimed that the people criticizing him had achieved nothing close to what he had accomplished in Formula 1, and they were not even on his level, hence not qualified enough to comment on the matter.
I wouldn’t say anything to them. None of them have done what I’ve done, so they’re not even on my level.

Still, the 40-year-old wants to keep going and not call it quits anytime soon despite suffering from a poor spell of races.

Lewis Hamilton insisted that he was going to continue racing because of his love for racing and the love for people who supported him throughout his career. The Briton noted that he had an amazing support system around him that constantly pushed and motivated him to do better. T
hose people kept an eye on Hamilton’s dream even when he lost sight of himself amid the struggles. As such, the 40-year-old claimed that he had a hope in his heart, and he was working towards the dream that he always dreamed of at Ferrari.

Regardless of the struggles Lewis Hamilton faced in the 2025 season, he ended the year with a smile on his face and motivation for the next one. The upcoming regulations in 2026 and beyond remain a big question mark for everyone.
However, Hamilton had shifted his priority to the next year amid the desperate performance slump. As such, it is just a matter of when, not if, the 40-year-old returns to his winning ways and starts to dominate the grid in terms of results.
