Lewis Hamilton is well known for his fashion style and has appeared at events like the Met Gala. He first attended the event in 2015, marking his fashion debut. Since 2021, he has been a regular attendee, which has prompted him to become one of the event’s co-chairs in 2025.
The 2021 Met Gala was special for him, as he took on a significant role in supporting emerging Black designers. Hamilton revealed that the talks of him becoming the co-chair started back in that year when he was introduced to the team.
I think this is actually the first time I’ve really spoken about it. The idea came about when I hosted a table back in 2021’s Met Gala. I Was introduced to the team, and we started having conversations about what it could look like in the future if we were to do it. Obviously I was excited, but there was nothing concrete.

The seven-time-world champion stated that he had no idea whether he’d get an opportunity to do so or not. However, earlier this year, when he was asked if he wanted to be one of the co-chairs, he was thrilled to accept the opportunity.
I didn’t know whether or not it would ever happen. Then earlier this year, I was asked if I wanted to be part of it and if I wanted to be one of the co-chairs. And honestly? I was just over the moon.
