The biggest news of this year was Lewis Hamilton joining hands with Ferrari for the 2025 season. This made the Brit an overnight hero in Italy. The Tifosi started to swarm around him and made special requests for the future Ferrari driver. Subsequently, Hamilton revealed that he had already autographed Ferrari caps despite being contracted to Mercedes.
Lewis Hamilton was a fierce rival to Ferrari’s potential world champion candidates. He was perceived as an arch-nemesis for the Maranello-based squad. However, things changed quite quickly in the F1 sphere as a few years later, the 39-year-old revealed that he would be ending his over a decade long partnership with Mercedes to fulfill his dream of driving the Ferrari while repping the red outfit.
On the other hand, after being confirmed as an official Ferrari driver, the memorabilia that he received for autographs soon changed to Ferrari merchandise.
I've had some people that have asked me to sign Ferrari caps and I've been like: no, no, it's too early. It's too soon. They're trying to get ahead of the curve. But I have signed some caps, obviously. And yeah, I mean, we're always talking about the kit and I'm always looking at the progress that they're making through the year in terms of the image, where they've been, and it's an incredible history they've had.Lewis Hamilton said at the Italian GP
Hamilton then elaborated that he earlier used to discard any requests for signing merchandise from other teams. However, he admitted that he has signed some Ferrari caps so far which could be interpreted as the seven-time world champion getting ready for his move to Maranello.
What can Lewis Hamilton expect at the Italian GP next year?
While being a Ferrari F1 driver is a dream for many, the Italian team is huge within Italy. Moreover, if any driver has driven for Ferrari in Monza, they know how special of a moment it is in their respective careers.
Subsequently, before Hamilton’s arrival in Maranello, Charles Leclerc revealed what the Brit could expect at Monza and Imola.
I don’t think Lewis needs any kind of advice, but it’s definitely very very special to be driving for Ferrari in Italy and Monza. It’s something that’s iconic and such a special feeling, the amount of support we have. Lewis will be experiencing it next year, we’ll experience it together. I’m sure it will be a special year!Charles Leclerc said at the Italian GP
The Monegasque claimed that it is a special feeling to drive for Ferrari in Italy and Monza. Furthermore, he asserted that he and Hamilton would be experiencing massive support together and reckoned it would be a special year for the Englishman.
Despite the optimism, Ferrari has witnessed a slump in performance. Thus, the 39-year-old’s first year at the Scuderia might go into recovering the performance deficit and preparing himself for the 2026 regulations reset.
