Lewis Hamilton‘s move to Scuderia Ferrari was supposed to be a fairytale. The seven-time world champion hoped to bring glory back to Maranello. Unfortunately, the Briton’s campaign has been disappointing so far with the Canadian GP being no different. Now, Hamilton has hinted that the Italian team might be in a state of turmoil.
The seven-time world champion finished in sixth place in Montreal. Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari never had a realistic shot at even a podium finish this time around. This comes in the backdrop of persistent struggles for the 40-year-old. Hamilton’s 2025 campaign has been incredibly underwhelming, except for a sprint win in China. There have been cases where Lewis Hamilton has seemed to be at odds with Ferrari, including a peculiar incident at the Monaco GP.
After the Canadian GP, Lewis Hamilton remained tight-lipped about the state of the team, asserting that he could not say much about his performance. The 40-year-old hinted that a lot has happened within Maranello in the past six months, but he was in a position to reveal it to the media. Hamilton even accepted that a lot of it includes internal problems within the Italian team. Nevertheless, the seven-time world champion hoped to remain a positive influence for the Scuderia in the long-term.
I wish I could tell you what’s happening. There’s a lot going on in the background. Yeah, I can’t say too much about it. There are so many things I wish I could tell you to explain. The things that have happened this year, the problems we had, whats going on within the organization. My goal is to try to positively influence to get change and get long term success. There are a lot of changes to be made.

Lewis Hamilton demands upgrades from Ferrari
Since the start of the 2025 season, Scuderia Ferrari has been on the backfoot. Despite Lewis Hamilton’s arrival, the Italian team has been nowhere close to fighting for race victories. The major reason behind this is a lack of performance. The SF-25 is far behind McLaren and Red Bull in terms of pure pace.

Lewis Hamilton revealed that he has constantly asked for upgrades from Maranello to improve the car. This will give the seven-time world champion a realistic chance to battle at the front of the grid, and potentially take a win or two. However, the 40-year-old was confused over the lack of updates being sent by the Prancing Horse. Though, he hinted that soon one upgrade package was scheduled to come.
Of course I’m asking for these things [upgrades]. I don’t know why we haven’t been bringing upgrades, I think we have one hopefully coming soon.
Lewis Hamilton added
Certainly, Ferrari needs to make improvements if the team wants Lewis Hamilton to actually get a chance to fight for victories. The seven-time world champion is getting increasingly frustrated over the situation. This could deteriorate the relationship between Hamilton and the Scuderia if results are not seen in the next few races. The Tifosi would be hoping that this iconic pairing is able to bounce back soon.
