Lewis Hamilton is having a difficult time at Scuderia Ferrari. The seven-time world champion hoped to bring glory back to Maranello. Unfortunately, that has not been the case with the 40-year-old failing to fight at the front of the grid. Now, Hamilton has insisted there have been worse times during his Formula 1 career.
Since the start of the 2025 season, Lewis Hamilton has failed to live up to expectations. The British driver is yet to even finish on the podium, let alone a race win. While Hamilton did win the sprint race in China, he had a woeful outing during the Grand Prix. The situation has really not improved for Lewis Hamilton. During the Hungarian GP weekend, the F1 star even called himself ‘absolutely useless’ for Ferrari, and demanded to be replaced.
However, the seven-time world champion still remained hopeful of bouncing back with the Scuderia. Lewis Hamilton claimed that he has gone through some tough times during his F1 career, with no immediate solutions in sight. The Briton insisted that there were situations even worse than what’s going on during his first stint with Ferrari.
Everything has never been immediate throughout my career; there have always been complex moments. Even worse than what I’m experiencing with the Prancing Horse.

Lewis Hamilton had a couple of difficult seasons at Mercedes at the start of the ground-effect era in 2022. This is often believed to be one of the reasons behind his move to Scuderia Ferrari.
Lewis Hamilton recalls ‘integral’ role at Mercedes
Before joining Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton spent over a decade at Mercedes. This was the Briton’s most successful period in F1 with six world titles. Hamilton had created a strong bond with the Brackley-based team and he felt at home with the car.

The seven-time world champion pointed out during his time at Mercedes, he had an integral part in the car development process for years. Hamilton’s inputs were used in developing Mercedes machinery since he joined the team all the way back in 2013. Thus, the car was well-suited to his driving style. However, the Briton is having to race the Ferrari SF25 that is not built by taking his inputs.
Over the years at Mercedes, I was an integral part of a gradual development process, which allowed me to get to know the car ‘inside and out.’

Lewis Hamilton understands that his situation at Ferrari can improve. The Briton seems to be gaining more patience with time. The Italian GP was an improvement for the 40-year-old who seemed to be more confident after the race. Nevertheless, the coming races will not be easy for Hamilton, particularly when it comes to fighting for a podium.
