The 31-year-old suffers from a type of Cerebral Palsy known as Spastic Diplegia, a neurological condition. In Nic’s case, his Spastic Diplegia has affected his limbs thus causing loss of control over his body movements. Nicolas uses a wheelchair because of his inability to walk from the pain of his neurological condition. Even for his races, he uses a modified racecar to enable him to control it through complex methods despite his Cerebral Palsy.

No matter the hurdles posed to him because of his congenital neurological disabilities, Nicolas Hamilton has defied all odds to become a motorsports racer. He scripted history as the first disable driver to try out the F1 simulator with help from his older brother Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes. The team modified his car with carbon-steel steering wheel and also improvised the pedals to fit Nic’s needs.

Thus, the 31-year-old has already overcome a dozen of obstacles to reach where he is today, and in no way is he any less than his 7-time World Champion brother who has conquered several odds in Formula 1 as well.
