Lewis Hamilton has continued to work tirelessly to improve equality and inclusivity in Formula 1. Hamilton has actively worked with his charity program Mission 44 to provide better opportunities to underprivileged people in the sport. Hence, amidst FIA’s ongoing tussle with the drivers, they have showcased a keen interest in working alongside the seven-time world champion.

We know from The Hamilton Commission report that there are opportunities for us to work collectively to both find and nurture that talent, and across the sport significant change has already been put in place. The charter is the next important milestone on that journey, and we are all committed to making our sport more open and diverse.

Formula 1 looking to improve ‘cross-sport working’ with the new D&I charter

Formula 1 has continued to expand its horizons in recent years, alongside Liberty Media’s continuous efforts to propel the sport’s popularity. The new D&I charter ensures opportunities not only for underprivileged people but also across different sports. This ambition will help the sport improve ‘access and performance’ and work towards a positive impact on cross-sport working.

This charter, which the sport commissioned us to create independently, sets a framework for progress and establishes commitment to both principles and action. It is a key step in F1’s ongoing efforts to improve access and performance, and we believe it will be a catalyst for even more positive impact and cross-sport working.
