James Allison was quick to point out that Hamilton’s race pace has been better than Russell’s on a couple of occasions, which highlights the seven-time world champion’s ability to perform under tough conditions. However, Allison also asserted that Russell is one of the better drivers on the grid in terms of extracting the most out of the car in qualifying, as he has shown time and again this season.
George Russell earned the pole position in Montreal and scored the first podium of the season for Mercedes during the Canadian GP. He will be looking to rectify the mistakes that cost him the win in Montreal ahead of the Spanish GP, which is a stern test for Mercedes given their improvement in pace and prowess.
